Australian artist takes first prize in Bullseye’s e-merge 2010

On Saturday, March 27th, approximately 60 glass artists, enthusiasts, and Bullseye staff gathered on the second floor of the Bullseye Gallery in Portland, Oregon’s Pearl District for the announcement of winners in e-merge 2010, the sixth biennial kiln-glass exhibition for emerging and intermediate level artists.

Choosing from over 40 finalists from all over the world, a panel a three jurors (Kate Elliott, Jeff Wallin, and Michael Rogers)  gave out seven awards. The gold award went to Kate Baker from Australia, with her piece Untitled (Melina).

The rest of the awards were as follows:

Silver Award: Lisbeth Biger, Paper 5
Bronze Award: Shannon Brunskill, Things We Collect
Academic Award: Jamie McDonald Gray, Holiday Snaps
Kilncaster Award: Cassandra Straubing, The Beekeeper’s Wife
Newcomer Award: Mark Ganter, Equi-Distance Between Two Tori
Popular Award: Shelley Doolan, Iteration 135
