The Hilltop program and Vetri gallery team up for an exhibition

Four young artists from the Hilltop Artists in Residence program, a glassblowing school that offers classes to at-risk youth, will have their gallery debut this weekend at a special exhibition at Vetri gallery in Tacoma, located practically next door to the Museum of Glass. Dexter Russaw, Samantha Scalise, Boaz Nichols, and David Pricee will exhibit their work in glass, which in the case of 18-year-old Scalise, includes exuberant bird sculptures that showcase the artist’s glassblowing skills. John Kiley named director of glass programs at new arts center half an hour from Seattle

Glassblower John Kiley will be running the hot shop at the Schack Art Center in Everett, Washington, when it opens in 2010.

A veteran of Dale Chihuly’s hotshop, and currently a key member of Lino Tagliapietra’s team, Seattle native John Kiley will bring a wealth of hands-on experience to his new position as director of glass programs at the Schack Art Center, an 80,000 square foot facility slated to open in 2010.
