Corning Christmas tree hits 14-feet second time around

Following the success of last year’s 8-foot-tall hand-blown glass ornament tree, the Corning Museum of Glass has gone almost twice-bigger with it’s new pyramid of glass orbs topping out at a jaw-dropping 14-feet. It is made from more than 2,000 individual ornaments made over at the neighboring Hot Glass Show hotshop.

Sunderland glass and ceramics students bare (almost) all for cheeky fundraising calendar

To raise money for their end-of-the-year exhibition, 12 students at the University of Sunderland’s glass department are launching a 2010 calendar featuring black-and-white shots of themselves at work in the hot shop or by the torch wearing nothing more than their boots.

Montreal non-profit Espace VERRE completes $3 million renovation

John Kiley named director of glass programs at new arts center half an hour from Seattle

A veteran of Dale Chihuly’s hotshop, and currently a key member of Lino Tagliapietra’s team, Seattle native John Kiley will bring a wealth of hands-on experience to his new position as director of glass programs at the Schack Art Center, an 80,000 square foot facility slated to open in 2010.
