Glassblower, designer, and artist Kanik Chung will celebrate the opening of his new showroom in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn tonight. Chung, who has recently been commissioned by famed industrial designer Eva Zeisel to fabricate a new lighting project, will be exhibiting his “tablescape” of opaque white glass vessels which draw on shapes derived fom a variety of sources including Chinese ceramics, milk bottles, and cartoon imagery.

Kanik will share the new showroom with furniture designer Jan Lee. The two will use the new space to present a range of individual designs, but the focus will be on direct to-the-trade custom orders. Both Chung and Lee have fabrication studios in the same building as this new showroom, which will offer an opportunity for architects, interior designers, and others to be closely involved in the design and fabrication process.
